1977 Zakspeed Ford Escort RS1800 Group 2

Chassis ‘ZAK G2 005/77’ is the last of five Group 2 spec Escort MkIIs build in 1977 by the legendary German team Zakspeed.

Built new in black (and likely one of the original Zakspeed team cars) 005 was sold to German racer Werner Haug in late 1978. Haug had found huge success in his Alpine A110 on circuits and hillclimbs, and the Escort was soon a winner for him too. Over the years, Haug ran the car in black, red and white/blue, and each layer was there as we sanded away.
