1965 Porsche 911 SWB - the 'Spa Lap Record Car' - multiple winner across Europe and 1 million views on YouTube
Chassis 302039 was delivered new on 29th July 1965, having been ordered by VW Pacific in Culver City, USA, for first owner Charles Cassidy of Riviera, California. The original colour of the car was Bali-blue with a black interior and tinted glass all around. The car remained in the USA until 1996, when the last American owner, Edwin Kissel from Rolling Hill, California, sold it to Holland.
The car was subsequently converted to full FIA racing specifications in 2004, for well-known Dutch historic Porsche racer Roman Caresani. The work was carried out by legendary Dutch Porsche racing team Duel Motorsport, who, over the following years would ensure that this became the most raced, tested and developed pre-66 Porsche 911 in Europe. Chassis 302039 would take on the Dutch historic NK-HTGT Championship seven years in a row and finished 1st in the GTS11 Class three times and an amazing 2nd overall in the championship three years in a row. There were overall wins during the campaign too, beating the much bigger capacity pre-66 GTs, especially in the rain!
The car also competed in the glorious Spa Six Hours seven times, resulting in a 5th overall, three class wins in GTS11 and podiums - the car finished the race on all seven occasions. During these heroic efforts in the Six Hours, the car would also go onto claim the lap record for a pre-66 2-litre Porsche 901/911 around Spa. The amazing in-car videos of the car at Spa have gone onto be viewed well over a million times on YouTube, making this surely the most famous modern-historic racing 911 on the planet.
Various GTS11 class-wins were also collected at Brands Hatch, Magny Cours, Silverstone and Assen. It would also take on a number of three and four hour races in the FHR Langstrecken Cup at the Nürburgring, Hockenheim, Spa, Zolder, Zandvoort and the Nordschleife, where numerous class-wins were won. During its time winning across Europe, it would always wear the number '107' - the car affectionately becoming known as the "107 Porsche" to its fearful competitors.
In 2011 Roman Caresani took delivery of his Porsche 904 GTS and so agreed to sell the '107 Porsche' to a friend who continued competing in historics, mainly the Dutch NK-HTGT series. During this ownership, the car was always race prepared and maintained by Duel Motorsport to he same 'works team' standards.
The current UK owner bought the car in 2016, in race-ready condition, with zero hours engine and gearbox. Since then the car has only taken part in two track days at Goodwood, keeping the car very fresh mechanically.
The HTP is valid until 2025, and aside from extinguisher, seat and seat belts, the car is ready to be used across Europe at the great meetings. It would also be a highly competitive entry into the two-driver '2.0L Cup', supporting all the Peter Auto rounds. Duel Motorsport report that all that needs doing to adhere to the regulations is exhaust manifold, brakes and door cards.
