James Hunt, Lord Hesketh, 'Bubbles' Horsley and their Grand Prix-winning team will forever be one of the greatest stories in the history of motor racing. Playboys, bon vivants, icons, but importantly, winners.
The great Harvey Postlethwaite would design the team’s first car for the 1974 season – the original Hesketh 308. Immediately it was fast, and so was Hunt, the pair winning the International Trophy at Silverstone, before an incredible victory at the 1975 Dutch Grand Prix, holding off Lauda and his Ferrari.
For the second half of the 1975 season, Postlethwaite would introduce the radical 308C/1 which Hunt would take to an impressive 4th at Watkins Glen and 5th at Monza, helping the team to 4th overall in the constructors championship – their highest ever position. For 1976, 308C/1 would pass to Jacky Ickx to be run by Wolf-Williams Racing, with a highlight podium at the Race of Champions. Meanwhile, its original driver, James Hunt, would go onto a sensational world championship victory with McLaren.
There are only three ‘Hunt Hesketh’ Grand Prix cars in existence, and 308C/1 is one of this iconic trio, and a unique car. Today it is race-ready and invited to every event you could ever wish for.
