ROFGO CONQUER SILVERSTONE
ROFGO Racing took it’s first modern win last weekend in the Silverstone 12hours.
The team crewed by ROFGO owner Roald Goethe, former World Endurance Champion Stuart Hall and young English rising star Dan Brown, fought back after a tough start of the race to win in style at there home circuit.
Race Part 1
Having qualified 10th due to unexpected oil on the track, Goethe took the start. The first lap was not without incident with Goethe being hit in the rear by another car, resulting in a damaged diffuser.
Fortunately the next hour and 10 minutes went well with Goethe storming back up the order to regain 10th position before handing over to Hall. With the rain now creating an increasingly challenging circuit Hall continued the meteoric climb to hand over to Brown with the car now second overall. The young Englishman consolidated this position until the worsening conditions caught him out at the club chicane. With the car beached in the gravel the ROFGO Racing team lost 3 laps and dropped to 8th position. Once the car was towed out Brown handed back to Hall for the remainder of the first part of the race. Hall managed to climb back up the screen eventually coming home an incredible 5th position.
Race Part 2
The second half of the race started the next morning in damp conditions. Hall took the start in the Mercedes AMG GT3 and, showcasing his skill in the tricky conditions, he moved up into third place. The fight was on and the team were back in the game! The team executed a slick pit stop with the ROFGO pit crew sending Brown out for the next stint. Brown built on Hall’s hard work and handed the car back to Hall in second place. Over the next hour Hall hunted down the lead Porsche, finally taking the lead with just over two hours left on the clock. From then on it was thankfully very straightforward, two more fantastic pit stops and another stint from Brown and the race was won.
Roald Goethe : I’m delighted with this result. The team has performed faultlessly this weekend. I’m very much looking forward to the remainder of the season.
Stuart Hall : What an epic race! We fought back from what looked an impossible situation at one point. I'm so proud of this team. They deserve this. Roald and Dan drove incredibly well and the team gave us a fast car, fast pit stops and a very fast strategy.
Predicting their result very early in the race!
