1953 Lancia Aurelia B20GT S3
Coachwork by Pinin Farina
Chassis number 2790
The Lancia Aurelia was an immediate success following its introduction in 1950. Designed by the legendary Vittorio Jano, of Alfa Romeo P2 and P3 GP car fame, the B20 GT coupe came second in 1951 Mille Miglia and a class win in Le Mans. 1952 and 53 saw victories in the iconic Targo Florio and Liege-Rome-Liege rally. The 3rd Series introduced the larger 2.5 V6 engine and was only produced for one year. Production of 3rd series totalled 720.
Chassis 2790 was successfully rallied in the 1990’s taking class victory of the 1996 Italian Historic Rally Championship. Events entered include the Targa Florio Storico and Rally dei Fiori - San Remo, and the car has many victories to its credit including wins at Balocco, Vairano and Monza. Restored by KCA, the car features a full-race, 150bhp engine prepared by Gamberini Racing, of Bologna, and is “on the button”. A rare right-hand drive, competition-prepared B20GT ‘low roof’ coupé this car has remained in a private collection for the last 12 years. It has had light road usage and regular invoices from UK specialist, Peter Harding. With older FIA papers on file the car will need recommissioning before used again on track this represents a perfect entry for Mille Miglia, Tour Auto, Center Ora as well as Pre 63GT, Goodwood Revival and many other prestigious events.
